Cigna Medigap Plans

Choosing the right Medigap plan that fits your individual needs and lifestyle can be overwhelming. A supplement plan complements Original Medicare, this means that in addition to the coverage you get for your medical procedures and doctors fees from Part A & Part B, you also get Cigna Medigap coverage for other services that Original Medicare doesn’t cover. Plans are standardized and identified with letters from A to N. You can enroll in any of these plans depending on your state of residence, financial status, and your age as long as you are also enrolled in Medicare Part B. It’s advised that you shop around to find a carrier and plan that fits your budget and the regulations in your state before enrolling.

Top Cigna Medigap Plans

There are currently 10 Medigap plans available, including Plan A, B, C, D, F, G, H, K, M & N. We’ll discuss the top 3 Medigap plans that the marketplace offers.

  1. Cigna Medigap Plan F: This is the most popular plan for Medicare recipients because it covers everything that Original Medicare doesn’t. It covers your Part A & Part B deducible, first 3 pints of blood, coinsurance and hospital costs up to an additional 365 days AFTER Medicare benefits are used, Part A hospice care coinsurance or co-payment, skilled nursing facility care coinsurance, any Part B excess charges as well as Foreign travel emergency. Their subsidiary, American Retirement Life Insurance Company, offers Plan F.
  2. Cigna Medigap Plan G: This plan is identical to Plan F with only one exception… your Part B deductible is not covered. However, this plan is found to be a better long term solution to supplement Original Medicare because the rate increase on Plan G is much less than Plan F. Because many beneficiaries are on Plan F, this creates more claims for carriers resulting in an average yearly rate increase around 7%-10%.
  3. Cigna Medigap Plan N: If you don’t see your doctor often then Plan N may be for you. There are co-pays with this plan, but the amount of money you save on your premium could cover these costs and save you more money then the other plans. Some out-of-pocket expenses with Plan N are $0-$20 copay at your doctors office, $50 copay at the emergency room, Part B excess charges and Part B deductible.

Supplement plans give you peace of mind when it comes to paying your medical expenses. Once you pay your premiums, you can rest assured that your healthcare costs are mostly covered. Cigna Medigap plan coverage reviews have stated that Plan G is the plan of choice for those recipients insured with a Cigna Medigap policy.
