Mutual of Omaha Medicare Supplement PlansThey offer supplements underwritten by:

  • Mutual of Omaha Life Insurance Company
  • United World Life Insurance Company
  • Omaha Insurance Company
  • United of Omaha Life Insurance Company

They’re a multi-line provider of insurance and financial service products. This includes long-term care, disability, and life insurance. They even have Dental Protection policies.

Mutual of Omaha Medicare Supplement Plans Benefits Overview

Mutual of Omaha top Medigap plans

Mutual of Omaha top Medigap plans for 2019 include Plan F, Plan G, Plan N, and Plan F High Deductible

There’s a reason that all Medicare Supplement plans get great reviews, the benefits are standardized by the government. This means that a Plan F is a Plan F.

No matter which company you choose, the benefits will be the same.

You’ll have the same standard benefits that any Medigap Plan provides, including:

  • Coverage across the U.S. You can see any provider that accepts Medicare in the United States.
  • 30-day Free Look period, you can give the supplement a try and cancel if you decide it’s not a good fit.
  • The plan can’t be canceled for health issues or plan usage; these policies are guaranteed renewable! Of course, this only applies if you’re paying your premium.

Special features:

  • No application fees
  • Rapid issue policy
  • Electronic delivery of temporary ID card when needed
  • Up to 12% discounts for household coverage (varies by state)
  • Plus, you get peace of mind having coverage from an A-rated major carrier

Mutual of Omaha Medicare Supplement Plan F

Plan F is considered a first-dollar coverage plan. This means that Medicare will pay what they are responsible first, then the balance is sent to the supplement carrier. If Medicare covers it, then Plan F will cover it as well.

Since Plan F is considered first dollar coverage, you’ll have no out-of-pocket expenses. You just need to pay a monthly premium.

Medigap rates vary depending on many factors. Factors include your age, gender, location and rating method used.

Mutual of Omaha Medicare Supplement Plan G

Plan G benefits are more comprehensive than Plan N, and the premiums are also cheaper than Plan F in most states.

Plan G covers everything except the annual Medicare Part B deductible. For many beneficiaries, the amount they save in premiums exceeds the cost of the inpatient deductible.

You can check out Mutual of Omaha Medicare Supplement Plan G reviews here.

Mutual of Omaha Plan N

Plan N was designed for people who are willing to cover some of their own medical expenses in exchange for a much lower premium.

Your cost sharing under Plan N is the Part B deductible and copayments up to $20 for doctor visits and $50 copayments for E.R visits. Beneficiaries are also responsible for any Part B excess charges.

Part B excess charges are no more than 15% that some doctors will charge beyond what Medicare pays. You can always ask doctors beforehand if they charge excess charges.

Medigap Plan N is popular for people who want the flexibility of supplemental coverage, with a lower premium option.

Mutual of Omaha High Deductible Plan F

The High Deductible Plan F is the same benefits as the Plan F after the annual deductible is met. This policy will cover Part A and B deductible, excess charges and foreign travel emergencies.

Obviously, people choose this option because they want to benefit from the lower premium. The savings is appealing to many retirees.

Some beneficiaries do feel like the out-of-pocket expenses are a bit much once they start getting a bill for the remaining 20%.

But they save quite a bit in monthly premiums that you would have paid if you were enrolled in the standard Plan F.

First Dollar Coverage Plans

In 2020, all first-dollar coverage plans will be going away. Those enrolled in Plan F, Plan C, and High-Deductible Plan F will be able to keep their plan.

As long as you become Medicare eligible prior to 2020, you can still enroll in one of the first-dollar coverage plans after they’re discontinued.

Lawmakers believe that when people have no out of pocket costs, they’ll be more likely to use their benefits for minor issues that don’t require medical care.

Omaha Insurance Medicare Supplement Eligibility & Enrollment

Omaha Insurance Medicare Supplement Eligibility & Enrollment

You can enroll in a Mutual of Omaha supplement plan at any time, but the best time to enroll is within the first 6 months of your Part B effective date

You’re eligible to enroll once you know your Part B effective date.

Your open enrollment window will begin on your Part B effective date and will last 6 months.

This period only happens once in a beneficiaries lifetime.

It gives you the opportunity to enroll without answering health questions.

To be granted a guaranteed issue, you would have to enroll during your OEP window. Or, you have to have proof of creditable coverage.

A form of creditable coverage is group employer coverage.

As long as you have proof that you had coverage prior to enrolling, you won’t have to go through medical underwriting.

You can enroll in any Omaha insurance Medicare Supplement plan at any time.

However, if you do so outside your open enrollment window, or don’t have GI, you could be denied and/or charged higher premiums.

Mutual of Omaha Medicare Advantage

Fall of 2018 meant big things for Mutual of Omaha Medicare Advantage Plans. This is the first time they have entered the market. They will be partnering with Lumeris, Inc.

They included the SilverSneakers program into their plan benefits. Enrollees can use a gym membership and classes as much as their healthy heart desires.

Some of these plans also include routine dental, vision, and hearing. If you have difficulty getting to doctor appointments, there is no need to worry. Transportation is a benefit available with these types of plans.

Currently, these advantage plans are only available in the Cincinnati (Ohio/Kentucky) and San Antonio markets.

However, these plans are not all that they seem to be. There can be a lot of limitations, including doctors that are in-network.

Many times, our clients end up dis-enrolling from their plan. They end up getting a Medigap plan due to them not being able to see their primary physician.

You can see why beneficiaries choose Medigap plans over Advantage plans here.
