You’ve served your country, and now you’re ready to collect your pension from the Veteran’s Administration. In addition to your retirement pension, you may also be eligible for a pension called Aid & Attendance. Who are the Patriot Angels?
The Patriot Angels were founded in 2012 and are based out of Hendersonville, TN. Their goal is to assist veterans with the process of receiving their hard-earned funds. They provide this by helping veterans fill out paperwork, answering questions regarding veteran’s benefits, and providing screening in order to let you know if you are eligible. They do not sell products or annuities, simply services.
What is the Aid & Attendance Pension?
The Aid and Attendance Pension from the Veteran’s Administration is a benefit which is paid directly to you. You are eligible for this benefit if you’re in need of assistance from at least one person in order to perform your regular daily activities. This benefit is also available to your surviving spouse, giving them the peace of mind they need.
Are There Special Eligibility Requirements?
There are no special requirements in order to receive assistance from the Patriot Angels. The Aid & Attendance benefit has no other requirements besides needing daily assistance, being a veteran, and serving at least 90 days, with one day during a time of war.
You do not have to be injured from your time in the service. All you need to do in order to receive this benefit is fill out and file the paperwork with the Veteran’s Administration. You’ll need to include documentation from your physician providing proof of your needs for daily care assistance.
What are the Aid and Attendance Amounts?
The amount you’ll receive depends on your personal situation. As of 2017, if you have a surviving spouse, they will receive up to $1,153 per month. If you are married, you and your spouse may receive a combined $2,127 per month. If you are a veteran applying for assistance for your spouse to receive the care, you may receive up to $1,406 per month. If both you and your spouse are veterans, the amount may be up to $2,846 per month.
How is the Benefit Paid?
You or your surviving spouse will receive the benefit every month via either direct deposit or a check. This benefit is tax-free for the rest of your life. You can use it for a variety of healthcare needs, such as salary for your assistant, medication, or put it toward the costs of your assisted living facility.
This amount is in addition to your regular VA pension, providing the assistance you’ve earned for your service.
What is the Process for Receiving Patriot Angel Assistance?
If you’re ready to get started, you can verify your eligibility for a Veteran’s Administration pension through a phone screening. The screening is free. Once you’ve verified you’re eligible for a pension, you can receive a consultation with the Patriot Angels.
They will verify your eligibility for the specific Aid & Attendance benefit. Once you have verified your eligibility, they will assist you with the paperwork and answer any questions you have.
Are the Patriot Angels Part of the Veteran’s Administration?
The Patriot Angels are not directly affiliated with the Veteran’s Administration. However, they only partner with attorneys who are accredited by the VA. This accreditation lets you know that the VA attests to Patriot Angels attorneys abilities to properly perform their job.
